Learnings from the Covid period

🏄‍♂️ Covid, a business accelerator

Thanks to the adoption of remote working, contracts and fundraising were signed even at a distance. Borders were no longer an obstacle for entrepreneurs and investors.

Is it still possible to do a lot of things remotely (signing contracts, etc.) or will we gradually have to travel to get opportunities? Yes, it is still possible to sign contracts and recruit remotely. Nevertheless, physical meetings are still recommended for the biggest contracts.

💪Where there is a will, there is always a way

For entrepreneurs who were motivated to bypass the US travel ban, exemption requests were granted.

"We managed to go to the United States even during the Covid period, because we were part of the critical infrastructure, and as such we were entitled to the National Interest Exemption." Thomas Habib - COO of Implicity

Implicity is a startup in our portfolio that has 50 employees, including 5 in the United States. The startup develops a remote monitoring solution for patients equipped with pacemakers and connected defibrillators.

Appointment times are extended

Because of the backlog generated by the covid period, the response time from the consulate is generally longer despite the recovery (up to +300 days).

💡
Are you in a rush? Here are two tips to get an appointment at the consulate more quickly:
  • Request an express appointment, otherwise known as "Expedite Appointment". Average response time: 3 weeks.
  • The consulate regularly sends out slots that become available. You have to be on the lookout! 😉
I am waiting for the EAD (Employment Authorization Document) to be issued in the US. Can I still have an activity in France? Yes. You only need to prove that the job is located in France, with travel in France and that the remuneration is received on a French bank account.
