You can terminate an employee's contract without giving any reasons during their probationary period. This is because the statutory protection against dismissal does not apply during this period.

Timeline

The maximum probationary period is 6 months and the notice period is 2 weeks.

Risks

Make sure you’ve clearly foreseen a probation in the employment contract. If a probation period is not expressly stated, you will still be able to terminate the contract freely within the first 6 months, but with the “ordinary” notice period of at least 1 month.
